WORKING:-

The rapid motion of the impeller forms a ring of water or any other liquid introduced into the pump. The rotor being eccentrically fitted in the casing, it creates a working space between the inner surface of the ring and the hub of the impeller. Air or gases are drawn into this space through the suction pipe and the opening in the control disc. The gases are then compressed through the exhaust end. Almost all the heat generated due to compression is absorbed by the ring-water. The excess of water is then thrown out along with the air or gases. Therefore the water needs to be supplied continuously. A small quantity of water is supplied at the glands for cooling and smooth at the bottom of the casing for draining out the ring-water after pump is stopped. This helps in avoiding corrosion of the pump.
