Description
We provide our clients with Up Flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactor, which is a type of anaerobic digester. These precisely engineered reactors are easy to maintain and used to treat waste water. Evolved from anaerobic clarigester, this UASB Reactor is a methanogenic (methane-producing) digester. Engineered using sophisticated technology, this reactor comes with expanded granular sludge bed (EGSB) digester.
Process :
- Reactor uses an anaerobic process while creating a blanket of granular sludge that suspends in the tank
- Waste water is processed by the anaerobic microorganisms after moving upwards through the blanket
- The upward flow and the settling action of gravity suspend the blanket with the help of flocculants.
- At around 3 months, the blanket begins to reach maturity
- After this, small sludge granules begin to form with surface area covered in aggregations of bacteria
- In the absence of any support matrix, the flow conditions creates a selective environment, wherein only those microorganisms survive and proliferate, who are capable of attaching to each other
- Eventually, the aggregates form into dense compact bio films, which are referred to as granules
- A picture of anaerobic sludge granules can be found here
- Biogas with a high concentration of methane is produced as a by-product. This can be captured and used as an energy source to generate electricity for export and to cover its own running power
