Torsion Springs

Torsion or double torsion are helical springs that are used for storing rotational energy or to apply torque. Torque is a force that produces rotation. These are circular in shapes, and are attached with arms, which rotates about the central axis, thus the stress implies in bending, not in torsion. Further, its ends rotate in angular deflection, which provides resistance to external applied force. These springs are mainly close wound, reduced in coil diameter, and increase in body length as they are deflected, in which wire is subjected to stressed in bending position.
