Solar Water Heater

Solar water heating (SWH) or solar hot water (SHW) techniques comprise several innovations and many mature electricity technologies that have been well established for many years. SWH has been widely used in Greece, Chicken, Israel, Australia, Japan, Luxembourg and China.
In a "close-coupled" SWH program the storage space container is side attached immediately above the solar lovers on the top. No pumping is required as the hot water naturally goes up into the container through thermosiphon flow. In a "pump-circulated" program the storage space container is ground or floor attached and is below the level of the collectors; a moving push moves water or warm transfer fluid between the container and the lovers.
SWH techniques are designed to produce hot water for most of the year. However, in winter there sometimes may not be adequate solar warm gain to produce adequate hot water. In this case a electric or gas booster is normally used to warm the water.
