Motor Control Centers (MCC)

As we can recognize by name, that these panels are designed to control motor operations from one center. Each motor is provided with starters protected by switchgear. The starters mainly consist of contactors, overload relay or motor protection relay, push buttons, timers, etc. The starters protect against overloads and other faults such as single phasing under voltage, under current, over current phase sequence, etc. But for each protection separate or combined equipments are added with the starters. The starters may be protected against short circuit, overload, etc. with the help of MCB, MCCB, switch fuse unit, motor protection circuit breakers as the need or requirement may be.

The starters may be of various types such as Direct on line, Semi Automatic Star Delta Starter, Fully Automatic Star Delta Starter, Auto Transformer Starters, Slip Ring Starters, PLC based Starters, AC Drives, and DC Drives.

In the MCC, the starters are installed in separate compartments and are duly wired ready for connection. Then all the starters are connected to the main circuit breaker through bus bar systems. The Starter may be provided with measuring instruments such as AM, VM, and KWH meter.
