Letrozole an oral non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor is used for the treatment of hormonally-responsive breast cancer after surgery in post menopausal women. Those who have had other treatments, such as radiation or surgery to remove the tumour also followed this medication. The mechanism of action is by decreasing the amount of estrogen produced by the body, it stops the growth of some types of breast cancer cells that needs osetrogen to grow.
