Lead Oxide

Grey Oxide or Battery Oxide is the commercial name of Lead Sub-Oxide (2PbO.Pb.H2O).The use of Lead Sub-Oxide is to prepare plates in Lead Acid Batteries which requires production to strict specifications. In manufacturing Grey Oxide, refined lead (99.97%) is needed which uses the process of Ball Mill.

Basically, Ball Mill has a Lead Melting Furnace which is operated in line with a cylindrical ball casting machine. This cylindrical ball casting machine feeds the balls ton the ball mill. Grey Oxide is produced in Ball Mill Plant. The process called exothermic is a process in which lead is converted into Lead Sub Oxide. In this process of conversion a lot of heat is generated and as a result the temperature of oxide increases. We keep in mind to cool the ball mill by executing constant flow of ample air and water spraying system so that the temperature can be kept within the range of 115 to 135 O C. The production of Grey Oxide depends on a classifier high efficiency cyclone, induction draft fan arrangement and bag- house filtration unit. The grey oxide is in a grey powder form. Through a precise control of ID Fan suction and proper plant configuration, desired particle size and free lead content is ensured. We are very much able to produce LSO powder of 350 mesh size.
