Description
Gymnema sylvestre is an Ayurvedic botanical and is described as a destroyer of madhumeha (glycosuria) and other urinary disorders. Gymnema also manages healthy blood glucose levels, it is also called Gurmar (Destroyer of Sugar).
The active compound of the plant is a group of acids termed as gymnemic acids. These have been identified to be useful in healthy glucose metabolism, in numerous animal and human studies
Indovedic offers Gymnema extract in two different potencies:
- Standardized to 25% Gymnemic Acids
- Standardized to 75% Gymnemic Acids
Gymnema extract may assist in the normal regeneration and repair of healthy pancreatic beta cells. Gymnema may also help reduce intestinal glucose absorption. Gymnema increases the activity of enzymes responsible for glucose uptake and utilization. Gymnema has been reported to be effective in lowering the fasting as well as postprandial blood glucose levels. Gymnema extract also has the potential to support healthy lipid and triglyceride metabolism.
