Ferro Manganese offered by us is a ferro alloy that has a high manganese content, containing 75% manganese and 7% carbon. This alloy is produced by heating of a mixture of the oxides MnO2 and Fe2O3, with carbon, usually as coal and coke in blast furnaces or electric furnaces. This process of carbothermal reduction is flexible wherein the slags can be reprocessed into Ferro Silico Manganese, which in turn can be further refined into Medium and Low Carbon Ferro Manganese. Standard Ferro Manganese (or High Carbon Ferro Manganese) is a commonly used alloy, produced by the reduction of manganese ore in the presence of carbon.
The composition of Ferro Manganese alloy is as follows:
- Mn: 70 - 75
- C: 6 - 8
- Si: 1.50 max
- S: 0.05 max
- P: 0.40 max
Ferro Manganese was invented as a method of introducing manganese in controlled proportions during the production of steel. Further, it is used as a deoxidizer for steel. This alloy is offered by us as per the customized requirements of our esteemed clients. They can avail this alloy from us either loose in bulk or in 1000kg gunny/plastic bags.
