Dewaxing Section
The oil is recovered from oil seeds by mechanical pressing. Two stages are involved in mechanical pressing. The first stage where seeds are subjected to relatively lower pressure so as to leave around 16 to 20% oil as residual oil in the resultant oil cake. This first pressing or light pressing is normally known as Pre- pressing. The remaining residual oil is recovered by subjecting the pre- pressed cake to solvent extraction.
