Description
The enzymatic pathways in all Prothrombin Time (PT) and Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) assays require calcium chloride as a cofactor. Most PT reagents include calcium chloride in the reagent formulation. However, APTT reagents do not include calcium chloride, requiring it to be added separately to the reaction.
Calcium Chloride 40-305 and 40-310 are considered laboratory reagents, not medical devices. Nevertheless r2 Diagnostics manufactures all its products in conformance with the FDA's Quality System Regulation 21 CFR part 820, and Calcium Chloride was included in the Phospholin ES 510(k) clearance. These package sizes are a convenient reorder quantity for the laboratory.
