Universal Testing Machine (UTM) is used for testing materials for its strength, yield point, Young's Modulus, Poisson's ratio, shear strength, compressive strength etc for various engineering materials. In authorized testing centres, the test values should be recorded and used for issuing certificates. The load on specimen is measured by pressure of hydraulic cylinder and extension is measured by a linear potentiometer. These signals are conditioned and sent to computer through RS 232.

In addition, other relevant date such as diameter of specime, length of specimen, material, customer, neck diameter etc are fed into computer manually. Using the aboe data, graph can be drawn with stress on Y axis and strain on X axis and characteristics such as yield point, Youngs modulus, ultimate strength, ductility, poisons ratio etc can be found out. Using these date suitable certificate can be issued by the testing centre. This equipment is ideal for testing centres and educational institutions and can be installed in existing UTMs having hydraulic power as loading device.
