Description
The betel plant is a slender, aromatic creeper, rooting at the nodes. The branches of the plants are swollen at the nodes. The plant has alternate, heart-shaped, smooth, shinning and long stalked leaves, with pointed apex. It has five to seven ribs arising from the base; minute flowers and one-seeded spherical small berries
Common Uses: The betel leaf essential oil is valued in Ayurveda as being stimulating, carminative, aromatic, warming, antiseptic and even as an aphrodisiac.

Strength of Aroma: Medium
Blends well with: Lavender, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Cardamom.
Aromatic Scent: Distinctly phenolic smoky note, almost tar-like. A compound tentatively identified as chevibetol is believed to have the greatest impact on the characteristic smoky aroma of betel leaf.
