Automatic Drilling System

The ADS utilizes the control capabilities of a PLC with an integrated HMI screen. The result is a powerful system which is both safe and easily operated. ADS controls the drilling tool speed and location based on input from an encoder coupled to the drawworks. Input from a dead line transducer is used to control and monitor block load and weight on bit. Input from a mud pressure transducer can be used to control mud motor pressure delta as a drilling parameter. The ADS control functions include: weight on bit, rate of penetration and mud motor pressure delta. The system includes dual limits for alarm and shut down which operate independently of the function control set points.
