Description
An Auto Transformer is usually lighter and less expensive than isolation type transformers. This single coil has one or more extra taps or electrical connections in various positions along with the winding. Some Auto Transformers are equipped with many taps and automatic switchgear to allow them to act as automatic voltage regulators, to maintain a steady voltage at the customers' service during a wide range of load conditions. In an Auto Transformer current flows from input to output unit and is also used in winding. Each Auto Transformer comes with a minimum of three Taps which is used for electrical connections. Each Tap correspond to a unique voltage measured from common end. These Transformers provides high performance and less power consumption.
